Bribery - GenNext Economy

For the past seven days I have been inquisitive for an issue to write on. Incidentally, I came across at Vivek blog and reading the annotations of few aficionados makes me craving myself to say something.

Vivek was in catch-22 position and was in dilemma of paying bribery to get his work done. We are not whistleblower, this question has not been raised first time in the history and don’t anticipate from me to purify this bureaucracy. But since, we have been facing similar kind of incidences in past and gonna be potential citizen of this nation- so do we have any moral, social and ethical responsibilities. Even if I were in Vivek shoe’s then may be I do the same as my friend did- but are there any principle attached to us or just we are going to be slaves of corruption, sick organizational structure or puppets of evil bureaucrats in the future. Bribery has become a rampant phenomenon. The question, which I ask to myself-Is it rational?, Is it a social obligation?, Is it an ingredient of resistentialism?, Is it possible to curb this necessity evil?

It is straightforward to say- I want a hassle free life and for my convenience I can spend few bucks. But this holds true only for those who have a capacity to pay. For a middle class person who is finding tough to maintain a minimum living standard in sky-high inflation scenario and 30 crores people are below poverty line,
(

/poverty_line.php).
Does the current organizational structure sustain a balance between poor and rich and we have to redefine the laws of democracy. Our form of democracy is bribery, on the highest scale. Can’t decide- where we are heading.

Practically speaking, it would be foolish to follow idealistic approach and have a straight vision of social issues. It is better to look on sensible aspect of social issues rather than behavioral. Paying bribe can be justified in case of Vivek – otherwise he has to summit all sorts of documents, pay large amount on travel expenses and waste substantial amount of time. I would not mind paying 100 bucks to get a reservation in train. Consider a different scenario- you are competing in CBSE Medical entrance, but did not get a seat because someone has paid bribery to middleman. If that student were you, will you still seal your lips and sits aside and wait for someone else to raise a voice or blame government, blame crooked politicians, blame system for this.

Is there any end to this? Not everyone is Mangal Pandey, but someday or the other, we have to raise a voice. Just accepting blindly and following cynical bureaucracy will not get to the bottom of any solution. Curd taste better than milk but if milk is contaminated then it will be a venomous for your digestive system.

u see even if we raise our voices and be idealistc et all... the system has a way to get even wid u..
we dint learn the non-cooperation for nothin[;)]..if u dont cooperate wid the guy at the passport office he wont cooperate wid u? and da common man soon loses his patience to fight wid the system and resigns..
u c sth, feel itz bad! u dnt want 2 b a part of it, but itz needed 2 get things gng! so u settle 4 a solution... thtz bribe! Man has changed his metric 4m ethics 2 money... if ethics morals were da metric, fight was answer! but as mobey is da metric, mkng urself lighter by 50 bucks is no big deal 4 some petty issues! so man succumbs!
@ sriram, @naresh.k

i agree with both of you..
we have to be realistic, common man don't want headaches..
..and making pocket lighier by 100 bucks over petty issue does not bother anyone..not me too

but check the water level.. b4 stepping into river....

Let me take a incident....
My sister appeared for B.Ed examination two year back.. the college authorities asked my father 2 lakh rupees for a gurantee admission.. though my sister get admission to different college through merit..

now this raised my frustrations.. and for such incidences..somebody has to raise a voice.. though my father did not fight the system..
but one day i will going to fuck this fucking system of bribe..
give bribe but dont ever take..if this is followed then bribery will be eradicated by the dusk of our generation and nothing will work faster than that.
